Why should I trust in Jesus?

I received a question from a Christian struggling with doubt.  They wondered if I could offer them any arguments or reasons to trust in Jesus which could weather their doubts.

My response is below:

Doubt is certainly understandable.  What I would encourage you to do when you are feeling doubt is to remind yourself of the evidence for Christ’s resurrection.  It is that event that establishes the truth of Christianity.  Christianity is unique among religions in that it is testable.  If Jesus rose from the dead, then it seems God has endorsed Jesus and Christianity.  Given the exclusive nature of Jesus’s claims, this would rule out other religions.  If Jesus has not risen from the dead, then the religion is a hoax.

I have listed several videos below that may be helpful for you.

Jesus also made certain promises that can bring us hope.  He said, “I am the resurrection and the life.  Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” (John 11:25)  We can trust Jesus’s claim because he was endorsed by God through his resurrection from the dead.
